on the product page, this appeared to be a rubber-type material, but it is more of a hard plastic, not very comfortable. Says it can be used for plus sized people, but if you're a woman over size 12/14, don't bother it won't fit you, even with the extenders. I would send it back but I got it on sale, so return shipping would probably be more than what I spent for the item. It's usable, but I probably won't use it because of the design flaws.
